Pure Mist Farm is set on one of the oldest apple orchards outside Tasmania’s famous Huon Valley township of Geeveston. The farm is the first stop for the Winter Mist, which forms in the world-renowned Tahune Forrest, which contains many rainforest elements, including Myrtle Beech, Sassafrass, Leatherwood, and the famous Huon Pine trees.
Well known for its long history of apple growing, craft cider makers, boutique winemakers, quality salmon producers, the world-famous Huon Pine, it is a small, passionate community and some of the most pristine air quality found anywhere in the world. And why wouldn’t it? The next stop is Antarctica.
Within two years, the couple had sourced the ideal 30 acres farm with a production facility, the location close to a freshwater source, the edge of the Tahune Forrest, pure air, cold Winter climate, and an ideal valley for Mist collection, with a natural daily formation and flow, all crucial elements in the formation of pure daily fog and Mist.
Two years on, the unique towers supplying the water of Pure Mist carefully capture droplets of water from the dense winter mist, which weaves its way through the valley on either side of the Huon River.
Standing over 10 meters tall, our Mist catching marvels harvest airborne water molecules in the air and gravity feed them to collection points on the 30-acre farm. Their construction as a stacked weave traps and wicks moisture into the towers. At the same time, their spiraling structure provides a large surface area that funnels water into the basement, then directly to our facility at the foothills. Here, the tiniest of trace minerals are filtered out using very minimal interference,
The result is water that can showcase an incredible story to the world of a truly spectacular region.
