PH8 can be found in the remote, pristine region of the Yorke Peninsula, South Australia where there lies a unique expanse of land that stretches for as far as the eye can see. Located only a few kilometres in from the Peninsula coast line of South Australia, the source of PH8 is surrounded by long established forests and rolling plains.

Millions of years ago the Yorke Peninsula was covered by the ocean that has left the land rich in limestone. Hydrogeologists confirmed PH8’s Old Lime Kiln property (1800 acres) is covered by black limestone thought to be laid down more than one billion years ago. The aquifer is unique to the location, as the landscape and aquifer is elevated from the surrounding land. The body of water is contained within the location of the property, keeping the aquifer uncontaminated from the Carribie Artesian Basin of the Yorke Peninsula.

An annual rainfall of 560mm filters through 38 meters of dense limestone and resides in 30 meter layer of sand similar to beach sand. It’s thought to take between 12 – 14 months for the rainwater to seep through the limestone which gives PH8 it’s natural alkalinity (pH of 8) plus essential, alkaline and electrolyte minerals.

PH8’s unique water source was first discovered 130 years ago when locals confirmed a long known secret by local farmers that the water quality at the Old Lime Kiln Farm was different to the surrounding aquifer of the Yorke Peninsula. Scientific tests confirmed this, with the property covered by black limestone thought to be laid down more than a billion years ago.
