CAVE H2O comes from the Hohenstein Mineral Spring which, although it has provided drinking water since 1965, has only recently been marketed.

The Weserbergland natural park lies in the transition zone between the North German Plain and the Central Uplands, an area rich in variety. The Hohenstein conservation area with its sheer 50 meter cliffs extends over more than 800 hectares in the heart of this natural park. From the depths of this unique protected landscape riddled with caves emerges the Hohenstein Mineral Spring.
Rainwater trickles through marl and mudstone, continuing through thin calcareous sandstone deposits, finally finding its natural way to the surface through Cornbrash sandstone.

Geologists believe that water is also fed in from a nearby stalactite cave.
