Zaku

The source of Zaķumuiža water source was discovered in 1936 as one of the most valuable and capacious high-quality water extraction sites in Europe. "Zaķumuiža" water is sourced from an underground artesian well in Garkalne district and bottled directly at the source.

A nature reserve is several kilometers around the source, which is included in the Natura 2000 list of specially protected natural areas. The area is ecologically clean and covered by pine forests, like half of Latvia’s territory is also covered with forests, and considered one of the greenest countries in the world. 

The water quality is controlled according to the regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia No. 671 "Mandatory safety and quality requirements for drinking water, monitoring and control procedures" (14.11.2017), No. 736 "Regulations on natural mineral water and spring water" (15.12.2015 ), as well as within the framework of the company's self-control system, ensuring the control of finished products and raw materials in an independent accredited laboratory and the company's laboratory.

The company's product safety management system is certified by DNV GL according to the food safety standard ISO 22000:2018 "Food safety management systems. Requirements for any food chain organization', and by certification center "Baltsert".

The company was established in 1994 by a surgeon seeking high-quality water with a balanced mineral content to help his patients to recover promptly after the surgeries. After the source was discovered, his son continued the family business, constantly developing modern factory facilities and products.

The water is available in Still and Sparkling in PET and Glass.
